Our mission as a school community is to provide challenging learning experiences for all which promote collaboration, creativity and develop critical thinking skills. We do this by creating a safe supportive learning environment where learners can take risks. We do this so that we all become responsible for our own learning and feel valued.  
Goal 1-We will teach, model and reinforce our school developed social emotional learning framework.  
StrategiesIndicators of Success
Common school language using 5 success skills- Empathy, Self-control, Embracing Diversity, Integrity, Grit. Teach behavioral expectations in all settings (hallway, playground, class norms, café). Media screen will reinforce the monthly themes. Small targeted social emotional student groups with BIM. Principal will read a story book on each success skill to each class every month.  Skills will be taught. modelled and reinforced in SMART class each week and at all assemblies through student leadership. ESST meets biweekly to discuss how to further support staff and students and capitalize upon our service partners. Professional Learning Book – The Formative Five -Hoerr Monthly Articles on SELStudent Wellness Survey results, teacher perception surveys, student club participation, PS Incident Data. Each teacher will give out 2 positive office referrals each month. The child’s picture will be taken and then printed as a diver for the bulletin board (Principal will take pics and teacher will alter into a diver). Teachers will give out 3 smart tickets each week based on the focused skill. Sept & Oct- Self Control Nov & Dec-Empathy Jan & Feb- Embracing Diversity March & April- Integrity May & June- Grit

Utilization of Science of Reading & Writing strategies schoolwide Combinations of whole group and small group instruction for UFLI at all grade levels. EGLA Assessment tool for K-3 QPS QSS for 3-5 Literacy obstacle races in PE for K-2 SMART class – 30 minutes of buddy reading activities each week. Daily targeted personalized instruction. School developed child/caregiver friendly literacy learning goals per grade level for reading and writing. Volunteer literacy support Home communication that includes specific skills to practice. AST will have targeted literacy intervention flexible groups based on student achievement results with inputted STIP in ESS Connect.  80% of students will be meeting grade level expectations by June. EGLA EECD Formative Assessment Tool UFLI Resources purchased. Decodable books Haggerty Resources purchased for K-2. Sound bins & walls Tuff Trays for engagement and communication skill building.

COE prototype school EECD support. FLORA Pilot School PSSC support for French programming. Student Assistant from France 20 hours a week from Monday to Thursday. French every day for all students with increased 30 minutes of French for all grades each week through French Café. France Assistant small groups for each class twice a week. Home communication that includes specific skills to practice. Professional Learning French as another language PL monthly for all teachers during monthly staff meeting.Student survey on feeling comfortable speaking French outside of school.
